Financial Planning

Financial Planning is often thought of or confused with “Investment Planning”. Investment Planning is typically the process of creating an investment portfolio and determining the specific assets (stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.) to be included in the portfolio.

Financial Planning is comprehensive, ongoing process, that includes investment planning. It is the ongoing process of determining how individuals can make informed financial decisions and how they can pursue their life goals through the proper management of their financial resources and the implementation of various financial planning strategies.

The planning process provides direction and meaning to your financial decisions while identifying and providing solutions for both financial and non-financial questions and concerns that may be encountered.

Have you asked yourself questions such as "Do I need Long-Term care Insurance?", "Should I name my children as beneficiaries of my life insurance and IRA’s?", "How much of my portfolio should be allocated to stocks, bonds, real estate and other asset classes?", "Should I pay off my mortgage early?"
These are just some of the questions that Raymond Patsy and Associates, LLC can help you address.

By evaluating each financial decision as part of an entire plan, you may more effectively consider its short and long-term effects on your financial resources and life goals. The process of designing, implementing, monitoring, and updating your plan to meet changing circumstances results in a complete financial plan.

A coordinated and ongoing planning approach to financial advice distinguishes Certified Financial PlannerTM practitioners from other advisors who may focus on only one or two product-oriented areas of an individual’s financial life. Click here to see the planning issues to be addressed.

Investment Portfolio Management

Investment portfolio management begins with an evaluation of your current personal situation and your completion of our investor profile questionnaire. We will discuss with you issues such as, but not limited to your age, your assets and liabilities, your risk tolerance, time horizon, liquidity needs, tax status, investment needs and investment experience.

Some of our investment profile questions include: What are your expectations for future stock and bond market gains? What are your expectations for future stock and bond market losses? What do you consider a safe investment, a risky investment? Do you know what percentage loss occurred in the S&P 500 index in calendar years 2000, 2001 and 2002? Do you know how much money you lost or you would have lost during those time periods. What about calendar year 2008?

After a thorough evaluation of these and other questions we will design a portfolio and an create an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) for you. The IPS is intended to be a written summary of an investment strategy that provides an agreed upon portfolio and a framework for the management of your portfolio.

The IPS sets forth the expected target asset allocation and allocation range among asset classes. Once the IPS is agreed upon we will implement and manage your investment portfolio on an ongoing basis. Portfolios are reviewed with clients on at least a quarterly basis.

Investments that may be used in the design and implementation of portfolios include: a carefully researched group of open-end, no-load mutual funds, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and Exchange Traded Index Funds.
